Most pet shipping companies will not tell you what anything costs until you hand over your details. We would rather show the numbers.
Below is what each part of an international pet move from Canada actually costs, where the figure comes from, and when it was last checked. Government fees are exact, because they are public record. Where a figure genuinely is not published, we say so rather than guessing.

Exporting a pet from Canada is far cheaper on the government side than exporting from the United States. CFIA charges CAD $24.64 per export certificate, and that is per certificate, not per animal. Two pets on one certificate cost the same as one.
The American equivalent runs from USD $101 to $275, depending on how many laboratory tests the destination requires. For a family moving two pets to a country that needs a titer test, the gap is meaningful.
Where Canada is at a disadvantage is the titer test itself. There is no Canadian rabies titer laboratory. CFIA states plainly that Canadian exporters send samples to the United States, usually Kansas State, so that fee is in US dollars and courier time has to be built into the schedule.
| Component | Typical range | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Airline freight | Quoted per route. No carrier serving Canada publishes live animal rates. | Airline |
| IATA crate | USD $65 to $378 at US retail, more for a custom giant build | Retailer |
| CFIA export certification | CAD $24.64 per certificate, plus GST/HST | CFIA |
| Rabies titer test, where required | USD $79 to $90 plus courier to a US lab | US laboratory |
| Import permit, where required | CAD $0 to about $600 equivalent | Destination government |
| Quarantine, where required | CAD $0 to about $1,900 equivalent and up | Destination government |
| Vet exam, health certificate, blood draw | Set by your clinic | Your vet |
| Ground transport at either end | Quoted per route | Us or a local partner |
| Our coordination | Itemised on your invoice | Us |
Two of these lines come from your own clinic. Your vet prices the exam, the certificate paperwork and the blood draw, and every practice sets its own rates, so ask for a quote when you book the visit. We handle the timing so each piece lands inside its validity window.
Tell us the route, the breed and roughly when you want to travel. Request a quote and we will reply with an itemised plan, a timeline and clear next steps, usually within two business hours.
