How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Pet from Canada to Singapore?

Singapore is the most administratively precise destination from Canada, and the cheapest of the strict ones. Canada sits in Schedule II, Singapore’s lower risk rabies category, which keeps the requirements manageable: an import licence, a microchip, a rabies vaccination and a titre test. The licence is S$50. What decides whether this move is straightforward is not the money. It is your dog’s breed, and where you are going to live.

Two rules can stop this move before it starts. Your pet must be at least twelve weeks old at the time of export. And Singapore prohibits the import of Pit Bull variants, the Akita, the Boerboel, the Dogo Argentino, the Fila Brasileiro, the Neapolitan Mastiff, the Tosa, the Perro de Presa Canario and crosses of any of them.

A second layer applies even to an allowed breed. Specified dogs cannot be kept in an HDB flat at all, and only one is permitted in a non-HDB residence. Most of Singapore lives in HDB housing, so settle the address question before you settle the flight.

The timing is precise rather than long. The blood sample for the rabies titre must be taken at least 28 days after a valid vaccination, and then at least 90 days and no more than 12 months before the date of export. The import licence is valid for 90 days from issue, so it is arranged near the end rather than the beginning.

How flight pricing works on this route

Live animal freight from Canada is priced per booking rather than from a rate card, and Singapore is a long routing, usually through Changi. Chargeable weight is whichever is greater, the actual weight of pet and crate together, or a volume figure taken from the crate’s dimensions, so for most dogs the crate decides the price. Send us the two cities and the crate size and we will quote the real rate.

What is not included here

Your vet sets their own fees. The microchip, the vaccination and the titre blood draw are priced by your clinic and vary by province. The laboratory fee for the titre test sits outside these figures, as does boarding and domestic travel to the departure airport.

What moves the price

Quarantine is the line you can remove entirely. If your pet enters Singapore within five days of your own arrival, and has lived with you for at least six months, home quarantine does not apply. Miss that window and the minimum is ten days. After that it is crate size, the season, and whether the routing is direct.
