From Canada, most routings connect through Vancouver, which has the strongest west coast links to the islands, with one stop service from Toronto and other cities. Moves to Maui, Kauai, or the Big Island typically process through Honolulu first, and we plan the inter island connection as part of the same journey, timed so your pet arrives during Animal Quarantine Station hours.
With the 5 Day or Less program completed correctly, most pets qualify for Direct Airport Release and go home the same day they land. If a requirement is missed, Hawaii applies quarantine instead, which is exactly what careful sequencing avoids. Because your pet is also entering the United States, we align the CDC and US entry paperwork with Hawaii’s requirements so one journey satisfies both.

The sequence: an ISO compatible microchip first, then at least two rabies vaccinations in your pet’s lifetime, properly spaced, with the most recent given no less than 30 days before arrival and still within its licensed validity. Then the FAVN rabies titer test at an approved laboratory with a result of 0.5 IU/ml or higher; the 30 day wait starts the day after the lab receives the sample, and the result stays valid for 36 months.
Finally, the complete document package must reach the Animal Quarantine Station at least 10 days before your pet lands. We track every date for you, on both sides of the border.
Starting from scratch, plan for roughly 2 to 3 months, driven by vaccine spacing and the 30 day post titer wait. If your pet already has a valid FAVN result, the timeline can compress to 4 to 6 weeks; the binding constraints are the 30 day wait and the 10 day document deadline.
Hawaii’s own fees are published and exact, in US dollars because Hawaii charges them: Direct Airport Release in Honolulu is USD $185 when your documents are received 10 days or more before arrival, and USD $244 when they are not. On the Canadian side, CFIA export certification is $24.64 CAD per certificate plus GST or HST, and the FAVN rabies test is a US lab fee of about USD $79 to $90 plus your vet’s blood draw and courier, since there is no rabies titer laboratory in Canada.
